The European Travel Information and Authorization System
Starting in Q4 2026, travelers from visa-exempt countries will need an ETIAS authorization to visit the European Union and Schengen Area countries for tourism, business, medical, or transit purposes.
ETIAS is similar to the U.S. ESTA system - it's not a visa, but a travel authorization that screens visitors digitally before they arrive in Europe. The system enhances EU border security while maintaining easy access for legitimate travelers.
Who needs ETIAS? Citizens of countries with visa-free access to the EU, including the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, and approximately 60 other countries.
